"Came in through A&E with a broken ankle"

The staff I came across in all departments A&E, Alldourne Ward and Ampney Ward were all fantastic, they were very obviously rushed off their feet but their care and compassion couldn't be faulted.

I was very distressed when told I had to stay in and have surgery the next morning the staff were great.

The only issue I had was being kept waiting for hours in A&E after my xray, the nurses knew how serious the break to my ankle was and that I was needing manipulation. I waited in the waiting room crying in pain for just over 3 hours after my xray before they moved me to another waiting room outside resus where I then waited another 3 hours to be moved into the resus room to be manipulated.

I fully understand that it was incredibly busy (for 3pm onwards on a Tuesday) but feel that the way in which A&E patients are managed really needs looking into. There aren't enough staff or cubicles to serve Swindon . You need additional space for 'walking wounded' or those that are just time wasters. I have only ever visited A&E twice in 20+ years of living in Swindon both times knowing I would need an Xray

I would like you to thank all your staff for the treatment I required also for the wonderful nurse in recovery when I came round from my first ever general anaesthetic which I reacted quite badly to.
