"My son in for Chicken Pox infection"

We brought my three year old into the A&E due to fever, lethargy and red swollen pox mark (after 3 days of common chicken pox he caught from his older brother). He was given his own room, antibiotics via cannula in the hand, liquid paracetamol and fluids straight away. To make a long story short, he spent a total of six nights in Ward 25 and was released with another 7 days of antibiotics to be given at home. It was a very stressful time for the whole family and the nights especially, spent on the fold away cot, were trying. But the nurses and consultants never let us down. When the first type of antibiotics didn't work, they switched to several others. Midway through his stay, my sons infection worsened (spread from the forehead to both eyes, which were swollen shut). He was the grumpiest, angriest little toddler who would not take his medicine. The nurses tried a foot cannula as well and eventually an NG tube. He was put under general anesthesia and sent for a CT scan of the eyes. This was the scariest part for us as parents and he fought us tooth and nail - as he was terrified too! A few nurses and consultants stood out in particular that made me feel confident that he was in good hands. All other staff in general that we had contact with were super polite, quiet and respectful. The consultants answered every one of our questions and took our worries to heart. They were attentive and did all they could to make our stay as good as it could have been. Given that it was a horrible experience - it was about as good as it could have been.Thank you!
