Three weeks ago I broke my leg ( see previous story), after a visit to the fracture clinic it was foretold that I needed to be operated on, to have screws inserted to assist healing. Putting aside the wasted 6 hours when after being called in for the surgery I was informed that there was no time to do the surgery that day, after being booked in having the wrist band fitted and being interviewed by the 'gas man'. At that medical interview I handed over a copy of my recent script + a letter from the heart specialist at the hospital giving details of my condition.
The next day, when I was finally admitted, I met with another anaesthetist, who took all my data again, and after much rummaging found my photocopies in the notes.
The op took place, recovery ward was great, transfer to ward good, staff on ward fine BUT by now nobody can find details of my medication, so over a period of two days I was quizzed more than once about what tablets I was on - nobody it seems can find the medical notes file with my details in it. Oh as an aside, on the Sunday when I was first called in, I was informed that my notes where locked in the admissions office and nobody had a key!
Yet again at east Surrey, medical and nursing staff 100% good, admin staff zero.
