"I was kept informed at every stage"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Accident and emergency NHS 111

(as the patient),

I recently had an "episode" - the cause hasn't been identified yet, so can't say more about it. Careful questioning on dialling 111, with further questions from the nurse on the other end of the phone, led to my attendance at East Surrey Hospital's A&E. I was told by the nurse what to tell the hospital, and what I might expect to happen when I got there. This was all reassuringly informative. Once at A&E, after a c. 45 minute wait, I was seen, and things moved forward as described to me. The tests were those associated with heart/stroke, involving ECG, brain scan, image recognition and strength/precision of muscle movement. Blood tests too, as a given.

I was kept informed at every stage, and the process moved forward smoothly, with enough time between each stage for me ar least not to feel rushed.

Fortunately, all the tests registered negative, but, just to be safe, the hospital made arrangements for a follow up appointment the following week in my own area. The whole experience was a positive one - especially the negative test results! There will be more tests to come, of course.

Dear Salskov

Thank you for your feedback concerning your experience in the ED at East Surrey Hospital. It is heartening to hear that the team communicated and kept you informed of the process and investigations that were taking place.

I am glad all your tests were negative, I hope further experiences are to the same high standard.

regards

Nicola
