I have attended the Rivers frequently over the last 2 years and this was my 3rd surgery in 15 months, I have had numerous physio and out patients.
Up until now I have been very pleased and would have highly recommended the Rivers
My recent surgery in January has prompted me to give this feedback.
As well as this second ankle surgery I also have neuropathy and have had guidance on pain management pre and post surgery
The post surgery in recovery was very well management
On the in patient unit I found the attitude of 1 or 2 of the nurses very poor.
It felt they were working to a protocol rather than patient centred care and seemed disinterested.
One nurse seemed really annoyed that I had to stay a second night and 'that was clearly not the plan'
I requested further morphine ( I was written up for every 2 hours and had only had 2 in total until this point)
The 2 Ned nurse who came ( different grey uniform) didn't speak, glared and reluctantly went to check. The nurse returned with the morphine, didn't ask how I was and I felt I had been a nuisance
I don't know what has changed as I have been an unpatient before and would have highly recommended .
I would be very happy to discuss this further . I have worked in the NHS for over 30 years and don't want to make a complaint!
"I have recently had an inpatient stay for ankle..."
