"My Dislocated ankle."

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford)

From the moment the ambulance service dropped me off at A&E I was seen too by a doctor.

The ambulance crew got to me quickly and I was at hospital within 20 minutes of the accident.

I had suffered a dislocation and break of the left ankle and I had to be put into a sleep immediately so the doctor could relocate my ankle.

This was done in a manner that didn't make me feel nervous or concerned.

I woke up with a temporary cast on a while later a little bewildered from the drugs but happy I was already on the mend.

I was soon after taken to a ward and given a good evening dinner just before going nil by mouth by the nurse and catering staff and had a quite night.

The next day feeling a bit dehydrated on a drip I was seen by the anaesthetist who explained my options. I decided to have a general anesthetic and in the afternoon was taken down to surgery.

Again I never felt nervous about being put under and woke pretty pain free and the operation was success. From there I spent another 24 hours in care and the food and drinks were very good and the catering staff were very friendly. After making physio happy I could handle a pair of crutches I was given the nod to be able to go home

After care to remove my cast and discuss my recovery with the surgeon was fast and friendly.

I am recovering well and back at work now after a nasty injury and apart from from soke new lumps where the metal work is hopefully will soon not notice anything different thanks to the professional and kind care given by the staff from the ambulance service and the William Harvey Hospital.

Thank you

Jon Whitehead

Dear Jon

I am sorry to learn about your nasty injury, but glad to learn that you are on your way to recovery.

It was good to hear that everyone, from the ambulance crew onwards, were kind, friendly and professional.

I was glad to note that your options had been carefully explained to you and that you were kept pain free.

Thank you for your kind comments about the catering staff which are much appreciated.

Best wishes for a speedy conclusion to this unpleasant episode.
