"Heybridge Ward Are Abysmal"

About: Broomfield Hospital

A relation was moved to Heybridge Ward, and what an appalling ward it is! The staff never answer the phones, which is very infuriating when trying to find out how a seriously ill relative is. When a relative asked a nurse to pass on a message to us via phone they never did, even after saying they would. They are very disorganised, every single nurse has a different discharge date as if they make it up. With a dying relation who only has a short while left to live, being told to 'stay outside' because we turned up slightly before visiting times is a disgrace. A nurse was also hiding behind a curtain in a ward room in order to secretly get signal and text on their personal mobile phone - and tried to act as if they were there to speak to my relative afterwards. Although some of the nurses are angels, and the caterers are great; there is a minority working there who are very unprofessional and rude. Would never recommend this ward to anyone.

I am so sorry to read your account of Heybridge Ward and appreciate you sharing. This it is not the standard of care that we expect to deliver to our patients and relatives. I have forwarded to the Head Nurse and Matron so they can raise with the Team. If you would like to talk to me in person my number is 01245 514577, best wishes - Jonathan
