"Bureaucratic nonsense"

About: Tameside General Hospital

My father was admitted to TGH on 1 November 2015 with serious kidney failure (stage 3/4) and over the next 3 weeks your critical care unit did an amazing job in saving his life and after another 2 weeks Dad was at the stage where he was declared "medically fit" but needed some time in rehab/transitional care before a planned return home. We can't thank the very professional and dedicated staff at the critical care unit for doing what they did for Dad.

However it took the bureaucrats 9 days to get Dad out of TGH and into rehab ( we were given every reason in the book why it took so long - the reasons are too long to list in this post) and during that time Dad received very little attention indeed we were watching him getting worse as the days wore on.

We were given lots of apologies, speeches about "lessons to be learned" and assurances that this would not happen again.

Dad was unfortunately readmitted to TGH on 30/12 and subsequently declared medically fit on 11/1 - since that time we have again been in the hands of this completely confusing and bureaucratic process whereby correct forms have not been filled in, forms have simply not been filled in and different depts within TGH are operating within their own little world oblivious to how there actions or lack of them are impacting adversely against each other with the patient coming off worse.

It will be at least 18/1 before we can begin the daily slog of emailing, telephoning and speaking to people within TGH to try and get some movement on this - in reality the way TGH are performing this time they might even beat the 9 day period of dad lying in bed that they managed last time.
