"The totally uncaring "caring profession""

I work in care funding for older people and even this didn't prepare me for the shocking standards at this hospital. May I add that im praying its individuals and not systemic but I have to say it wasn't only at one level.

My mother went in for a 1 day transfusion and after over a week of tests was diagnosed with major and terminal cancer. There has been little or no liason with patient or family, the rudeness and arrogance of doctors is devastating at a time of emotional stress. To be told on discharge that they would not transport her home because I quote..."It would have to come out of the ward budget" is appalling and that was from a nursing ward sister.

We were fobbed off that the NHS continuing care assessment should be done after discharge...rubbish, the hospital simply didn't want to do it, her GP wasn't event liased with. The day of discharge the RUH went on "black alert" and its hard not to conclude that they just wanted beds cleared whatever the consequences. The team meeting to discuss her case was held in secret without any feedback to her, the family or even the GP, she has in effect been thrown out into the community to die...............how dare you claim to care, those involved should hang their heads in shame......but to do that they would need to care and they don't.
