"Terrible"

About: John Radcliffe Hospital

I was rushed here following a car collision in which the result to me was a broken back, on the road side the paramedics put me on the plastic snap board, in which was cold and very uncomfortable. This I was to,d for my broken back was something I should have been off within 12 hours at the very longest, however it was advised that I should have been off it by 6 hours. Once going through the MRI scan on my own with them not allowing my family to see me before or immediately after the scan, it was very scary. Once they finally allowed my family to see me they kept my on the snap board. After hours of complaining about the pain it was causing me they remained to do nothing, they left me 2 hours without painkillers after me requesting them after the prescribed amount of time. After 13 hours I was finally took off the hard plastic boas in which they said they didn't know I was on that type of board even though me and my family had told them about 8 or 9 times. The staff ignored my requests of painkillers and needs. The urgent button was answered 27 minutes after alarming it. It was a shambles. I was then woken up and was sent down to the X-ray department, however when I was there they wanted me the following day, instead of taking me back I was left in the cold corridor for 20 minutes with no one attending me. Instead they remained to walk past and not even ask if I was okay at any stage. I was also transferred to the wrong ward in which none of the staff knew what I needed as I was meant to be on the trauma ward, yet I was on the dimentia ward.

Also on the fitting if my spinal brace I had an amateur trying to put it on in which they did by pulling me up and not fitting correctly with being so large for me and wasn't even fastened up.

However the spinal consultant was fantastic and there was one nurse that was fantastic out of the 8 that had dealt with me in my 3 day stay.

I thought the issues were to stop on my release yet it carried on as they didn't refer me to the local hospital as they said they would and have not helped or assisted with any of my questions since release.
