"Lack of cleanliness"

About: Hillingdon Hospital

I visited a friend in Churchill Ward.

The ward floor was very dirty, the visitor toilet was filthy and the stairs leading up to the main ward had at least one quarter of an inch of dust at the riser on each tread.

My friend also wished to use the toilet, I asked 3 nurses/auxilliary to help.

The sister in the end asked a nurse to stop what they were doing and assist, this they did not do and carried on doing what they were doing, eventually they did come to help my friend.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you felt the ward was dirty. The ward is audited regularly on the standards of cleaning and also there is a daily check list that is completed.

The Matron for the ward will be discussing the findings with the ward staff and also the cleaning supervisor.

At times we are unable to respond in the timeliest way we would wish to do so and the ward manager will remind staff of the importance of communicating to patients and relatives that they will help as soon as they have finished the task.
