What I liked
I liked going home. I like some of the friendly student nurses, My consultant and Anesnatist. Also, the porters were very friendly, helpful and compassionate
What could be improved
Cleanliness. Without a doubt. I was the first person in my bay to arrive for surgery and it was very clear from the amount of dust on the floor that it hadn't been cleaned for at least 2-3 days. Furthurmore, the Patientline keyboards and operating switches and my bedside cabinet had not been cleaned in, I estimate 3 months? There were human skin cells within the operating controls for my patientline and hair follecules (Not to mention a hairband) left in the bedside cabinet. There was also a sticky orange stain within my bedside cabinet which I can only hope and pressume was Lucozade. The general feel of the ward was depressing. The walls were dull and lifeless.
On the whole, I cannot reccommend this hospital. It is far from a centre for excellence for cleanliness even if its a centre for cutting edge treatments in trauma, orthopaedics and so on. As the finalise the new developement project for the hospital, one hopes that the foundation of a clean and sterile caring environment is not forgotten.
