"Colonoscopy 26 January 2016"

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

I was feeling quite anxious about having a colonoscopy as it was ten years since my last one. However, the whole team were very supportive and caring. I would particularly like to mention the endoscopist and the two nurses assisting as they immediately put me at my ease and talked me through everything that they were doing. I watched the procedure on the screen and found the running commentary very interesting!

I have now decided that the bowel preparation beforehand was worse than the procedure itself!

Dear Anne P

We are delighted to hear that throughout your recent endoscopy you felt fully supported by the endoscopist and the 2 attending nurses. It is good to note that you found being able to watch the whole procedure on the monitor interesting, I am sure many other patients will be pleased to hear this and your comments may offer them some reassurance.

Not all patients wish for this amount of detail and it is testament to the staff in the endoscopy unit that they will try to accommodate each patient on an individual basis, providing them with as much or as little information as they feel comfortable with.

Your comments will be passed on to the Endoscopy Unit Sister to share with the rest of her team who I know welcome the kind feedback from you.

Regards

Sue Mellor
