My experience of a certain ward at this hospital was horrendous. My husband was admitted for a problem totally unrelated to the type of ward he was admitted to.

He was nil by mouth for nearly 13 days, whilst the consultant tried to diagnose him, of which they couldn't. I asked if my husband could have tubigrips put on his hands as they were cold, I was told, you can buy some gloves, he complained that he wasn't benefitting from the oxygen, the nurse placed the mask to their ear and said "well its working, I'll get him another mask". An NG tube was inserted on the ward and placed into his lungs in error, causing aspiration pneumonia, this tube remained in his lung for a further day before removal.By this time he had been put on food via the NG tube which was going into his lungs. Another disgrace from that ward , he was never told why he was having intravenous injections in his (L) arm, the so called nurse missed his vein and whatever they were injecting into the vein, missed and went into his tissue of his arm, where his arm swelled to 4 times the normal size.

He was taken of his medication (we the family were not told why) until I asked a nurse who said he's NBM, they stopped his intravenous medication?????

Within half an hour of each 2 nurses they both tried to inject my husband with Morphine, fortunately my husband was fully compusmentus and pointed to his syringe driver which releases Morphine.

My husbands daily updates were discussed with anyone that was visiting him. I asked on several occasions the day and time when the consultant visited the patients as by this time I was very concerned about how malnourished my husband had become. I was told that no one knew what day or time he visited the patients.... This I find totally unacceptable.

I have complained PALS & I CAS.

Staff would take myself and my husband to clinics with tubes attached, then leave us alone, at one time a consultant had to help me with the wheelchair and drips.

One nurse said that they would pray for him after he had a 4 hour nose bleed., myself and my sister had to change his sheets.

And to make matters worse, when I found my husband dead, my sons made him look presentable, we walked out of that ward as if we were strangers, non of the staff that had been supposedly looking after him, approached us, to express their feelings.
