"A Short Visit"

About: Queen's Medical Centre

I just want to say how overwhelmed l was by the professionalism and personal care I received whilst I stayed there for a 'Quincy'. I arrived the evening of Wednesday 20th January and fortunately was discharged on Friday 22nd January.

From moment I arrived in A&E the nurse realised the seriousness of my Quincy and i was sent straight to the resuscitation room. The doctor immediately explained what the procedure would be and put mine and my girlfriends mind at ease. Even though it was busy and I had to share a 'booth' with another patient I was never alone for more than 2-3 minutes, however much trauma I was surrounded by.

The doctor then came down and relieved some pus via an incision which helped enormously.

That evening I was looked after by a lovely team of nurses and doctors in C25. A special mention to the lead nurse that looked after me that first night. I never got their name but they were absolutely amazing and wish I could thank them in person.

The quincy eventually did improve but took 3 'goes' at relieving it of pus. Throughout the painful following evening and the build up to it, I coud not have felt more at home. The wonderful person bringing tea and coffee combined with positive vibes and joy to the ward was a lovely touch.

The fact that we had a soup course before each main meal I felt was excellent. The standard, variety and balance of food was excellent.

Small touches such as I wanted a cordial and a glass of milk at 4am instead of water was not a problem. Nothing was too much to ask.

A special thank you to all the staff who I came in contact with on the ward during my stay. Particularly the staff on the first night, the 'hit squad' as I called them who visited me each morning with clip boards who knew exactly what was what! And a big thanks to the doctor who whilst being so friendly and reassuring managed to extract a huge amount of pus from my throat which ultimately lead to my release.

I was in such good hands from the moment I walked in, and every single area there could have been care and a chance to ease a patients pain and stress levels there was. Excellent job QMC and those on C25 between 20/1 and 22/1

Response from Queen's Medical Centre

Hi Jeremy. Thanks for your lovely comment. I’m so pleased to hear you had such good care on Ward C25 and in our Emergency Department.

I know that our ED is often very busy, but I am glad to hear our team kept you well-informed informed about what was happening next in your treatment. I’ve shared your feedback with my colleagues on C25 and passed your kind words on to the ED team – they send their thanks too.

My best wishes to you,

Hannah Docherty
