"Mis-communication!"

About: Whiston Hospital

Was due for attendance ward 3b on 13.12.15, call received 11.12.15 to cancel due to winter pressures, as I'm not from Liverpool we had booked a hotel for sat/sun Eve as well as my husband booking annual leave, and arranging for my 3 children to be cared for, hotel costs lost and husband had to take his leave due to short notice! Rescheduled for 24.01.16 so not too much delay, arrangements put in place again, arrived at hospital 07:15 went to sign consent forms and was informed that I was having an injection not the surgery and injection that I had been told I was having. When original letter arrived in Oct/Nov it wasn't specific about what I was going in for so I contacted admissions to ask which procedure it was for injection or surgery, admissions advised both we being done together hence the decision to stay in Liverpool the night of the op! Again hotel booked, husband organised time off work, children's care organised, when it wasn't necessary after all. Communication was appalling!
