From pre-op to surgery the Day Surgery unit is like a home from home. Staff create a caring atmosphere and take the time explain their actions and intentions. On the bug day I was in at 07.30 erased on at 10.30 with nusing staff and doctors preparing me inbetween (read about 40 pages of a good book inbetween those). The general anasthetic felt professional and I was felt calm by the team around me. On waking from the op at around 11.30 I was 1 on 1 cared for until I was passed back to the care of the nurses in the day surgery unit and then it was all nurses seemingly caring for everyone but with one nurse managing my care directly.
I was given plenty to drink and eat and offered help to dress. I was allowed to walk out at 13.30 the same day. Overall the staff are very good and care. The facilities are well set up and I felt like I was treated as an individual throughout the process. My operation was on a Saturday. Well done to all the nurses, doctors and staff.
