"My operation and over night stay"

About: City Hospital (Birmingham)

On arriving I was taken to my waiting sit and started paperwork etc almost straight away at 7.20 am so by 8am i was ready for my operation . But didnt go to theater till 3pm this was annoying i could of arrived at hospital at midday and stll had pleaty of time to get ready .

Operation and recovery treatment was good even with them finding out I was allergic to yet another medication .

Arriving on ward i was treated with great respect and looked after very well.tiil my second drip ran out and was told I hadnt been written up for any more . I on all ocassions possible had told staff I had problems coming round and needed at least 4 drips . The staff nurse said they would sort it but they never did so I recovered slower and felt very doped up for along time and scared to go to sleep for fear of slipping in to a coma which had almost happened before . My blood pressure and oxygen stayed low as a result even with drinking plenty .

Also I had not picked up my medication I somehow left them on my bed at home . I take rather alot of medication but was only given paracetamol as the staff nurse didnt get any of my medication written up . This was stressful for me with my other health issues . One being my IBS i wasnt even given my senna which I need daily else I throw up bowel contents .

Being on ward D17 was distressing having to listen to a woman most the night delivering her 8 week old dead baby .

Morning/day staff were lovely just a shame doctors didnt do rounds till 1pm and then it took till nearly 7pm for paperwofk to be done for discharge .

All i wanted was to get home shower and recover . By the time I could leave I had missed a lift of a friend and had to get a lonely taxi hone .

Finally home i could take my medication .

So to sum up my stay had highs and lows and there are areas that need improving .

A plus side is so far my operation seems to be a sucess
