What I liked

My sister was a patient in intensive care nov 09 for 3wks and very poorly i would like to on behalf of all her family thank the brilliant medical staff who worked tirelessly to get her better knowing what a difficult situation it was the doctors and nurses were very respectful informative when approached and considerate to her care and her family's welfare through a very traumatic time "Thank you all" she was transfered to ward 4 for a further 2wks until discharged just before xmas it is going to be ongoing care for her at home for at least a few more months , so once again all the intensive care staff "god bless you" xxxx

What could be improved

Ward 4 could be much improved we found lack of communication with staff and not enough night staff to accommadate the 28 patients to be cared for plus younger people with older infirm people in the same ward which younger patients like my sister found it hard to cope with but once again thankyou and especially physio staff xx

Thank you for your comments. We have fed these comments back to the ward managers to ensure that communication is improved. The Trust constantly strive to ensure adequate staff for each ward and will ensure this concern is raised. Finally, although in some circumstances such as your sisters, younger and older patients do mix within a ward, the population that we serve in Macclesfield is predominantly an aging population and as such there will always be a greater degree of elderly patients requiring our care.
