"The charge nurse was brilliant"

About: Royal Preston Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Brain injury after falling off a bike

My body just called for sleep and relaxation after the surgery. Unfortunately I was placed on a ward with other patients who were all suffering as well and this led to them making a lot of noise and being difficult for staff to manage. This created a lot of tension, disturbance and disruption. I found this environment impossible to find my much needed relaxation and sleep. After 3 days of this I felt I was going backwards in terms of my rehabilitation. I explained all this to the physiotherapy person and she reported this to the charge nurse. The charge nurse was brilliant and found me a side ward where I could relax and sleep.
