Following an episode of haemoptysis in June 2015, I was referred for a CT scan, PET scan and bronchoscopy all of which identified a tumour, possibly a carcinoid, in the lower lobe of my left lung. Surgery in November 2015 removed this lobe, confirmed the diagnosis and solved my problem and the possibility of more serious problems later in life if it had not been detected. Over my whole experience - in clinics, during scans and finally on Ward 4 of Heartlands Hospital - I cannot fault the treatment received from friendly, caring, efficient, professional staff at all levels and wish to record my thanks to all of them and to Mr Steyn and his team.
