"Cracking treatment"

About: Ealing Hospital

Came off my mountain bike late afternoon New Years Day, helmet in use but still gave my head a good crack, bruised some ribs, lost some skin and felt like I had a broken bone in my right hand / arm. Managed to get myself home and had my wife drop me at A&E. It wasn't too busy thankfully. I was seen by a triage nurse within 45 minutes, sent for an X-ray (for which there was no queue), state of the art digital X-ray facilities, and seen by a Doctor 30 minutes later. He confirmed that I had broken the scaphoid bone. Nurses arrived to put a bandage and plaster support on my hand / arm within 15 minutes, back to X-ray for a confirmation scan, 10 minutes, back to ward, 15 minutes to see the Doctor with the results. I was out of there just before nine, fully treated. My thanks to all those involved with my treatment.
