"bad communication and listening"

About: Leicester General Hospital

I was sent to ward 29 for a scan on sunday the 3rd Jan from clinic 4 at the royal as ice been in pain for three weeks on my right side my own doctor said its probably my appendix and has booked me a scan but if pain gets worse to go to the royal so I did I explained what I was feeling and they sent me to the general when I arrived I was treated quite well and was seen by a doctor who said I was to have a xray that night and a scan the following morning well the xray never happened and I was starved all day waiting for my scan I had asked three times to let me know when my scan was and never heard anything so o went to the desk and was told at half four that evening o was not having a scan till the next morning this was known from half twelve I then was seen again by another doctor who told me it was not my appendix but it was down to my scar from a previous operation had on 2013 for a while full hysterectomy due to endometriosis I was not checked at all for appendix and had my scan the next day at lunch o asked the person who was scanning me what they were looking for and they said endometriosis and was not looking at my appendix I'm very angry as I went I about my appendix but was tested for something completely different the doctor said the pain is likely due to my scar and nothing else and sent home with medication I'm shocked and angry that even if the pains not my appendix that it was not scanned to make sure seeing as that's why I was there luckily before I went hospital my doctor on new years eve has requested a scan for me for my appendix I'm still on a lot of pain and get tired very fast I live alone with my son who is 14 so cant just pack up and go a&e unless I have someone to have him in not the only person in bay 6 that was messed around and told to go home there's nothing wrong or the pain will go away o my self work in a care home and have to be fit to work

I love my job and want to make a career for myself but how can I do this when I ill and even the hospital don't check the right things

Dear Lisa, thank you for your feedback with regards to the service you received at Leicester General Hospital.

If you would email Clair Riddell, Matron - clair.riddell@uhl-tr.nhs.uk with your name, address and hospital number her team will review your treatment and explain the reasoning behind the change in diagnosis.

We apologise for the delay in you receiving your scan and the lack of communication on the day. Best wishes, Communications Team, Leicester's Hospitals.
