"They cared for him as if he was family"

About: Stobhill Hospital / General Medicine

(as a relative),

My husband had massive stroke and 3 seizures. He is being looked after at ward c, for the past 4 months. I cannot thank this dedicated team enough for the care, kindness, compassion, and wonderful care they have given my husband, also the support for myself and our family, we did not know first thing, about a stroke.

They guided us, and held us up when we were lost with it all. but most of all the dedication and friendship, and making my husband smile. Always stopping by his room, even when they weren't needed, just to keep him going, with a smile making him feel happy.

He leaves to go into nursing home on Sunday. He doesn't want to leave the team who have cared for him. Linda, Diane, Gaynor, Heather, Val, Keith, Marjorie, Brenda, and so many more. The most important thing they did for my husband was taking care of him as if he was one if there own family and I thank them for that with all my heart.

Response from Lorna Gray, Patient Experience, Public Involvement Project Manager, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde

Dear tonner

Thank you for taking the time to share your story about your husband, your family and your experience during what must have been and will continue to be a very difficult time for all of you.

I am glad to hear that your husband has made progress over the past four months. What you have highlighted is that it is not only the standard of care we provide that is crucial but the way in which we deliver that care, which has clearly had such a positive impact on your husband, your family and yourself.

I will ensure your kind words are passed on to all the staff in Ward C including those that you have mentioned. They will be pleased to know that the way they not only cared for your husband but supported you and your family has had such a difference.

Best wishes
