"Cardiology outpatient"

About: Queen Elizabeth I I Hospital (Welwyn Garden City)

I visited the cardiology outpatients department in December for a 24 hour tape. The new QEll is lovely and clean.

The receptionist on the desk of outpatients was incredibly rude to me, they looked at me strangely when I arrived like they were surprised to see me, this made me feel like I was in the wrong place, they then were sarcastic and had a very bad attitude, it was completely unacceptable, although not clinical staff they still work in a hospital and I feel like should show a tiny bit of compassion or respect. As a young person attending a cardiology clinic I was obviously not feeling great and I think staff should be trained to be a bit more tactful as I imagine most of the people that pass through the doors are going through something or receiving bad news.

The technician I saw who talked me through my 24 hour tape was amazing and couldn't have done a better job, so thank you very much.

Response from Queen Elizabeth I I Hospital

We were really sorry to hear how poorly you felt you were treated by the cardiology clinic receptionist at our New QEII hospital.

Not only is it really disappointing to get such feedback, it just shows how damaging something like this can be for a hospital's reputation.

We would really welcome it if you would be willing to contact us - just email generalenquiries.enh-tr@nhs.net - so that we could arrange for the person who manages the clinic receptionists to contact you so we can find out more about what happened and when.

This in turn would allow us to address any training issues that may need to happen.
