I had surgery to remove a nodule on new years eve of 2015. I was very nervous as this was my first experience of major surgery, anaesthesia etc. They tried their hardest to have my partner with me at all times due to my nervousness and they accommodated this need. However I wasn't allowed my partner with me when being put under, fair enough, I had a lovely nurse offer to be with me at that time which I gladly accepted.
Being put under the staff there were great and helped put me at ease before they put me under! I don't remember much after that for obvious reasons :)
Aftercare after op was great. Had a few of the nurses/healthcare assistants entertain me as much as they could during the period I had to wait to be taken up to the ward which was a great distraction for me.
Staff on Wheal Coates ward were brilliant. Able to answer all my questions and concerns even minor things.
Food and drinks were great too. Lovely selection of meals, just a shame my throat was sore so I couldn't eat much.
My only complaint is that the Dr or Consultant I saw on the ward seemed dis interested with me and my worries. I also didn't feel ready to leave the hospital when I was told to either, less than 24 hours after a general anaesthetic and still in a lot of pain, although I was sent home with painkillers.
