We were, as all new parents, nervous about the labour and post natal experience - we had been informed we needed to have consultant led care due to age/ivf and that baby would need to be monitored for 24 hours following the birth. We needn't have worried - from start to finish our experience at homerton was utterly outstanding. Our midwife followed our birth plan to the letter, we were allocated a room on delivery suite with birthing pool and the midwife was calm and reassuring throughout even forgoing a proper break so they wouldn't miss the delivery! When things became worrying at the end due to baby's heart rate dropping staff explained everything and supported us to make the right decision eventually the doctor skillfully delivered him by ventouse. Staff on Turpin ward were also excellent, providing just the right mix of monitoring/support/advice and quiet time to bond with baby - one midwife was particularly helpful. We cannot thank you all enough for the part you played in bringing our beautiful baby boy into the world.
"outstanding care"
