"Emergency situation with young kid having..."

About: William Harvey Hospital

We have a young kid who developped a repiratory crisis during travel between Paris and Manchester, on dec 24th. She started to become less responsive during the channel crossing and we stopped at the first A&E we found (WH Hospital).

Depsite having many people waiting in A&E she was fast tracked and seen immediatly by several doctors and nurses. Everybody was respectful, professional and nice.

After 2 hours in A&E, our daughter was moved to a paediatrician ward and was looked after for 24 hours there. Again, nurses and doctors were very attentionate and helpful.

Response from William Harvey Hospital

This must have been a very stressful and worrying time for you, and especially your daughter.

I am so glad that we were here when you needed us and that she was fast-tracked.

It is also good to hear that everyone was respectful, professional and nice, which must have been very reassuring.

I do hope that your daughter is now fully recovered - and that your next trip between countries is less eventful!

Thank you for letting us know about this.

Response from Sally Smith, Chief Nurse and Director Of Quality, East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust

Thank you so much for taking the trouble to post this feedback after such a traumatic and distressing time for you and your child. Especially on Christmas Eve.

I do hope all is well now and that you managed to complete your journey safely.
