"Male guardians ( non nursing in female bay at..."

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital

I was admitted into Dewsbury hospital on weds 30th Dec and I can only compliment the high level of medical intervention and health care service I received from resus, to MAU to Ward 8, in some cases exemplary care from one particular Nurse.

My one major issue which was dealth with was in a female bay, a male Enigmare Care Guardian was placed on a 12 hour night shift to observe a elderly lady from getting out of bed, two feet from my bed with 5 other ladies and we were expected to be comfortable! Lights off!

Totally unacceptable, I raised this and was dealt with in that they have offered another position in another ward. I cannot understand where the decision or in line with dignity and respect policy is this acceptable from the external agency or indeed the hospital. I hope this can be reviewed as a course of urgency as many felt they could not voice and how any vulnerable/ poorly women may not be able to rest at night knowing there is a no nursing male siting in the dark on a hair near their bed......
