Myself and my husband went to Dr Holmes baby clinic in mid December for a check up at 35 weeks. I had been feeling unwell for a few days, I was suffering from a really bad headache and my feet and hands has swelled quite badly that day. I was admitted to the labour ward right away as they found on top of this my blood pressure was really high and I had protein in my pee. They tried to induce me but this caused my baby boy to become distressed when the decision was made to stop inducing my labour and that they would monitor me closely and talked about delivering my baby via c section instead.
The next morning I was seen by doctors, a surgeon and midwives. It was decided that they would do the c section in 2 days, as it would give the steroids time to work.
Unfortunately my baby had other ideas and I was rushed in for an emergency c section and my baby was delivered the next day.
He spent some time in the neonatal unit and he came on leaps and bounds and after rooming in for two nights we were able to take him home less the 2 weeks later.
If it hadn't been for the quick response of the midwives, doctors and surgeons in this department, me and my baby could have both died. I am eternally grateful to them for saving us both.
They are a fantastic team. So to all the staff on ward 7, 8, the neonatal unit and the surgeons thank you from the bottom of my heart, for the outstanding care myself and my baby received. And also for keeping my husband updated and making him feel at ease.
"Thanks to the staff for the safe birth of my son"
