What a fantastic hospital!
Our 13yr old daughter was transferred to this hospital in June with a blood clot in her brain that was bleeding.
It was a very stressful time for us as we had a very poorly daughter and was in unfamiliar surroundings.
We spent 2 weeks here before being transferred back to our local hospital.
During our stay, the treatment our daughter and we as a family received was impeccable.
All the staff on Melanie Ward were so kind and caring.
They couldn't do enough for you and nothing was a trouble for them.
Every shift they made a point of introducing themselves to you and when you asked for something, you got it.
I don't think we had to remind anyone at any time!
The staff on PHDU were exceptional too and completely put at us ease during her 5 day stay there.
Special mention must go to our consultant.
Such a kind, caring and compassionate doctor.
They saw our daughter every day and made sure we had full up-to-date information on her condition and treatment.
When we were transferred back to our local hospital, we immediately wanted to come back to you as the standard of care was not the same! (We were there for a further 2 weeks and only saw her consultant twice).
Since her discharge we have had 2 follow up appointments with the consultant and that level of care and compassion is still there.
It is obvious they know our daughter and she is not just treated as another patient on their register.
They are such a credit to your hospital.
The ethos of a kind and caring hospital shines through all your staff in the Children's Hospital.
Many other hospitals could learn from you!
Keep up the good work!
