I had shoulder surgery approx 5 years ago and was very happy with everything. It did take a year from first visit to surgery but realise the NHS are very busy and I had lots of appointments to best treat my detached pectoral muscle but really was happy overall.

My real issue is with my current shoulder problems. In the 9 months approx since referral post 6 months of physio I have had two appointments. First was approx 3 months after referral which I have no issue with. And in my first appointment had a corticosteroid injection which did nothing but put me in Greater pain for about 24hrs and the back to normal pain but happy things had started.

Roll on 4 months to next appointment (should have been 3 month wait but clerical error or possibly only avaliable spot meant I waited 4) for my second appointment I turned up nice and early but the specialist was running 2 hours behind and was only put on the board after I had been waiting 1 hour and 20 mins after my appointment time. I finally got seen after waiting 2 hours 30 mins (again I understand this happens) I walked in was asked if the injection helped I said not at all. Which didn't seem to be believed they looked over my notes said that they would need to make another appointment to arrange an injection under ultrasound but not to worry I would receive a letter in a couple of weeks. Was told if it was caused by previous surgery there might not be anything they could do. Was asked if I can still work I said yes but with difficulty that was it 4mins and I was out. I felt as if I was being rushed through as they were behind. I have not missed a day of work true but I am in agony every day. I can't ever sleep properly and in truth it gets me down. The specialist I am seeing I have no faith in as they don't seem to have any empathy and no where near as informed or determined to get to the bottom of the problem as the specialist I had previously. I am sure this is only because of how busy they are but they might as well just got me to email or call if the first injection didn't work as that is all they wanted to know. Nearly 2 months on and no letter, so 9 months for 1 injection. I have a physical job and honestly believe I will have to quit it before anything is sorted. I think the problem lies with funding but I do feel let down by an institution I am so proud of.
