I was due to attend for Gastroscopy in the GI unit, and received a phone call saying that they had a cancellation, and that I could attend earlier if possible - which would get me examined quicker!
I arrived probably 40 mins earlier than my planned time and within minutes, was booked in and going through the pre-check with a lovely nurse. Everything was explained clearly and simply, and I was soon in the examination room.
The whole procedure was explained in detail by the attending staff.
I elected to use the throat numbing spray for the procedure (which tasted awful in a bananary kind of way - but definitely did the job!)
During the procedure, I was put entirely at ease by the staff, who explained everything that was happening, and everything that was about to happen - so there were no surprises.
The procedure itself lasted only a few minutes and was admittedly slightly unpleasant, but definitely not painful - certainly not worth being sedated for!
I had immediate feedback which was very reassuring, then all that remained was to wait for a few minutes for my formal examination report.
I thanked all the staff for their kindness, then I was on my way back home in no time at all!
I would recommend Russells Hall Hospital, and especially the GI unit to anyone. I always find the staff to be courteous, professional and above all kind and caring. I decided I must take the time to write a review, as many people are keen to complain, but not to praise!
Many thanks,
Mark
