My first visit to the Linda McCartney Unit for diagnostic tests was fine, however the follow up visit for results was stressful and chaotic. Briefly on my first visit, Tuesday, I needed a biopsy and was initially told that the results are usually ready by Friday. However I was given an appointment card for the following Monday. On the Friday someone from the Breast Clinic rang to say the results wouldn't be ready on Monday but gave me an appointment for the following Friday.
I attended at the given time and place to be met with blank stares - no record of my appointment in Outpatients, so I was sent back to the Breast Clinic who also had no information. By this time I was getting a little anxious as the week and a half wait for results had been stressful anyway, but the added confusion of the staff didn't help.
I was eventually sent back to the Outpatients Dept. and an hour and a half after my appointment time I got to see a doctor with my results. It would not be fair to go into the results here, they were well explained, but I subsequently find are the subject of much medical controversy. So all in all the experience has been worrying and disappointing.
