"Excellent care in A&E"

About: Arrowe Park Hospital

I attended A&E yesterday with my elderly Father who had an increasing painful and swollen wrist. Initially as the parking was so dreadful he went in alone (a mistake in hindsight) and was unfortunately told to attend the gp part of the hospital.

To be honest it was obvious even to me he would likely need an xray (otherwise we would have gone to our own gp) and this mini triage done by the receptionist was my only issue (apart from the shocking parking problem!) as it wasted APH's resources and our time. After nearly an hour waiting to see the Gp who immediately realised an xray was the only means of ruling out trauma and referred us back to A&E were we started again with the booking in process!

All that said once in the right department the care was competent and courteous. From the initial gp/lovely nurse/x-ray staff and OT we could not have been treated better. These people should be commended as they all went out of their way to be kind and friendly as well as competent to an elderly man who thought he was just being a nuisance. Credit were credit is due.Thankyou

Thank you very much for your kind comments, although we are sorry for the difficulties you first experienced when you arrived. We are proud of the care and service provided by our staff.

Our staff work hard to try to ensure that a patient’s experience whilst at the hospital is as pleasant and comfortable as possible, and they are always considerably heartened and motivated on learning how much their efforts have been appreciated. We have passed your feedback to staff in our Emergency Department.

If we can be of further assistance in any way, please do not hesitate to contact the Patient Relations Team on freephone 0800 432 0251, email wih-tr.Patientrelations@nhs.net or in writing to Patient Relations Team, Arrowe Park Hospital, Arrowe Park Road, Upton, Wirral, CH49 5PE.
