"Excellent ward 11 shame about the pharmacy"

I was amazed by the cleanliness and the care standards in ward 11. The nursing staff could not do enough (well, most of them). I even had choice of lunch and dinner from a menu, and was told that i could re order if necessary! It seemed like a brand new ward. The only fly in the ointment was the pharmacy. From being told from before1pm that I could go home, it took until 8pm and a lot of fuss to get my prescription! With computers and tech these days surely a prescription can be organised i less than7 hours? The main reason that this was so upsetting was that i'd had to agree to give up my bed at 3 ish and had to wait post cooperative, tired and in pain in the day room. What a shameful end to what could have been a good exerience.

I am pleased to hear that your experience on Ward 11 was a positive one.

The team work really hard to give the best care every day, and feedback like yours makes it all worthwhile.

I am sorry that you had to wait so long for your medication.

Unfortunately the pharmacy have to wait for the doctors to complete their ward rounds, then go back to write the prescriptions of all the patients going home.

This can take much longer than we would wish it to. The pharmacy generally are able to get medications back to the wards within 2 hours of receiving the request.

We are undertaking lots of work on improving our discharge processes but I completely understand we haven't got this right all the time yet.
