"Outstanding level of care"

About: Luton & Dunstable Hospital

I came in at 37 weeks pregnant having gone into labour. The care i recieved from the staff on ward 31 was amazing. They saw me quickly and had me transferred to delivery suite within an hour and a half as it was very busy. On delivery suite i had two amazing midwives who stayed with me for one on one care as i had placenta previa. They kept me and my partner calm and helped me through the stages of labour while waiting for the steroids to do their job on baby's lungs, which meant i had to try and hold out to have a c-section which was needed due to my condition. The midwives were amazing at their job and made my having baby calm and labouring easier for me and my partner. One midwife was in theatre with us when baby was born and did an amazing job at helping me stay calm in my very anxious state and keeping dad calm in his extremely worried state. The only negative was the consultant not allowing the section earlier when i had in a previous pregnancy had a placenta abrubtion and my anxiety levels were theough the roof of a reoccurance. The consultant's registrars didnt agree with their decision to leave it as long as they did. But thankfully baby and myself are now in good health.

Ward 32. These staff and the doctors are an absolute credit to this hospital. The MCA's made the 4 night stay amazingly enjoyable. And even though i wanted to take baby home they made the having to stay a lot easier and happier. They go the extra mile to comfort you when you are worried or emotional. They took the time to check that i was getting on well with baby and feeding and took the time to give me helpful tips and advice on how to feed and wind baby. (Even though she is my third its been 6 years since my last and these things were a distant memory). They genuinely made my stay a happy one. I could not have asked for any better care as there just isn't any. The nursery nurse was also amazing. They listened to my concerns about baby and made what the doctors were saying easier to understand. They made sure i was happy about what the care plan was for baby and made sure i was ok when checking on baby. A truly lovely person. The midwives i had were just brilliant. They were all simply amazing at their jobs. Me and dad both hope you had enough chocolates between you from us as we could not thank you enough for your care. The consultant was a delight on the ward rounds and was just a lovely doctor who made me very happy to be discharged and explained everything simply and also made me laugh which was nice. A fantastic bedside manner. And last but not least the amazing registrars and gps on the ward rounds and the lovely doctors that saw baby briefly in NICU, they are all simply lovely. Thanks to everyone who cared for me and baby.
