"My 36 hours in hospital with angina pain"

Whiston Hospital A&E 0345am

Reception and waiting area were empty, and had obviously been busy. I was triaged and taken into waiting area. Bloods and ECG were all done quickly and efficiently. After that the wait was long and concerning. No one came to say you are 4th 5th or even 103rd in the queue. Of course they are all very busy and a lot of very sick people - I'm not complaining, but it would of reassured me that I had not been forgotten.

At 0745 when it came via Doctor, she was very helpful and explained and listened to me. It was decided I should go home but after a word with her boss decided to observe me until my blood results came. I was sent to observation ward for more bloods, and they then decision to admit me until blood results Ward 1e coronary care.

I was impressed with the level of importance that was paid to the patient in assuring that they were informed at ALL times of the needs being met for their condition and how it was being treated/monitored (sometimes at inconvenience to themselves ie their lunchtime). I was CARED for by Hannah, Pam, James, Elaine, and of course the rest of the staff as and when. Just like to mention Nicola, who I saw nursing a sick lady, went above and beyond together with all the staff. I mention this because when I was admitted for a time 10 years ago saw an elderly sick lady not able to feed herself, and wanting to eat, get little or no assistance - I had to complain to staff on her behalf in coronary care same hospital. I was reassured that it has changed for the better, and they seem to be treating the patient as a whole as well as their illness.

Mmm yes small niggle - most people do not look behind after they have used the loo, and when you are sick well whatever, I thank goodness was still able, but a little better monitoring of the loos would be good.
