"Paramedic was helpful"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as the patient),

I called the ambulance service as my wife had fallen and she was neither able to get up nor was I able to lift her off the floor. We waited for about an hour and a half for the paramedic to arrive, when he did he was very apologetic and explained that people who had fallen but were otherwise OK were a lower priority than other cases involving injury. This was perfectly understandable.

He was able to help my wife get up and get her back on the bed and then did a number of tests to make sure she was ok. He then helped her to the bathroom and made sure she was able to manage without further falls. Nothing was too much trouble for him, was very reassuring and calming and treated my wife and I extremely well, he really was excellent.

Response from Sara Coburn, Patient Engagement Manager, Governance, South Western Ambulance Service Foundation Trust

Hi Nadir100

Thank you for providing us with feedback about our service. I hope your wife is feeling better.

It's always rewarding to hear positive patient experiences. We would be very happy to share your comments with the ambulance staff involved in your care. However, in order to do this we need a little more specific information. If you would like us to do this, may I ask you to contact our Patient Engagement team on either or 01392 453831 and a member of the team will help you further.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to share your story.
