"no medical treatment available, staff just chat"

About: Addenbrooke's Hospital

I have never in my life been to such an excuse for a hospital. On arriving with my very shy husband, we were greeted by two 'receptionists' one after the other confirming the same details. For the four hours we waited, I counted 6 staff, standing at the entrance, including the nurse responsible for triage, using the computers to google and show each other images and chat and laugh.

Of course this hospital is useless, there are no trained medical staff. All of the funds are used in useless staff who feel it is their entitlement to stand around. This hospital shouldn't be open and I laugh at the irony that some PALS complaint officer receives a tax funded pay packet to write a very brief 'sorry' message on this review board. Outrageous. This hospital should be shut down and a new hospital employing qualified, medical staff should be built. It never will though, for now we are paying privately for our medical treatment.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience of the Emergency Department.

I am sorry to learn that your expectations were not met on this occasion, but I can assure you that the hospital does employ appropriately qualified and trained staff of all types.

If you would like us to look into the circumstances and respond to you in more detail, I would be grateful if you could contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01223 216756 or email pals@addenbrookes.nhs.uk with a few more details about when you and your husband attended.
