I am 30 weeks pregnant an had an accident where had knocked my head into another persons an shortly fainted. A parent called the ambulance service and I was transported to the queens hospital
The hospital staff had not check my eyes or head for any lumps or swelling as they said nothing was visible. They assessed my blood sugar and blood pressure an transferred me to labour triage.
A blood test and a urine test was preformed as well as monitoring the baby's heart beat.
A nurse had then came in to inform what will be happening next regarding wether I will be admitted or discharged they then went on to say they believed that the incident was not serious enough for ambulance to be informed an had implied I had abused the use of the ambulance service stating " it's not a free ride to the hospital" and then followed after my response of not being able to decide on what to do after being dizzy that I should inform whom ever made the decision from me to "be more educated next time" they ignored my concerns and showed no compassion as they also stated that the ambulance is not to be called unless you are dying or seriously injured which made me feel no priority.
I feel extremely insulted an embarrassed due to their patronising behaviour an their assumptions. This has cause me to be extremely upset and bring me to tears and emotional discomfort. They said there was nothing wrong with me an after an hour of babies monitor I should be going home.
I don't wish to use this hospital again due to the way they had dealt with me I am pregnant and stressed an what they had said made me feel as I had no importance as if I was being extreme. I am extremely frustrated and partially distress.
This is my first visit and experience at queens hospital and hopefully last.
A nurse working on the ward suggested to go back to A&E for a assessment on my eyes and head when I had passed these instructions to the A&E staff they muttered and squirmed and was reluctant to consider further assessment as they said A&E was extremely busy and I would have to be put back on a long waiting list.
There staff are not welcoming not friendly they have no facial expression on perky personalities they are extremely blunt which is unwelcoming ,awkward and non-comforting
