"A prompt referral and swift admission to a ward"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I had been released from hospital about 10 days earlier after receiving a new knee. I was constantly breathless and thanks to the diligence of my private physio I was hounded into seeing my GP.

I was at the PCAU within 30 minutes of walking into the surgery and was seen within minutes of my arrival. The care was instant, thorough and every action was explained to me. Brilliant.

Within a short time, several tests and inspections I was informed by the Doctor exactly what they suspected. He finished by saying 'I can't let you home because we need to monitor you'. I don't think I have ever been so relieved. I was in for a further two days and following the injections and scans I was cleared of the clots.

The PCAU was brilliant - far better than wallowing in A+E and so professional. Thank you to all.
