"Ambulatory Care"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / General Medicine (Wards 5 & 8)

(as a relative),

My mother underwent a CT guided lung biopsy yesterday. She was under the care of the team within the ambulatory care ward.

Although fasted from the night before, she didn't undergo the procedure until 14: 00. This was out with the control of the ward staff. The nursing staff and Drs were excellent( Everyone on shift so I won't mention individual names as I don't want to leave anyone out).

The department was extremely busy.

Pain, nutritional and comfort needs were met pleasantly and with compassion.

Dear Firecracker,

Many thanks for the positive comments that you have fed back using the patient opinion. I am sure the staff will be delighted to read that you felt that the care was compassionate.

It is unusual for patients to have their procedure carried out in the afternoon. The Hospital experienced an increase in activity yesterday and the emergencies that presented led to this. I'm sorry that this was not carried out in the morning and had a lengthy time fasting but am pleased that you found the Drs and Nurses excellent.

I hope that your Mother has made a full recovery.

Thank you once again for your positive feedback I will ensure the staff are made aware of this.

Best Wishes

Andy
