I was omitted to the ED between 1am and 2 am on Sunday 29 November and I wanted to let you know about your team who treated me.
I arrived by ambulance in extreme pain on a night when the ED was every busy however the care I received was amazing.
Every single member of staff was exemplary. The nurses went out of their way to listen to me and demonstrate care and compassion when I was in a very vulnerable state of acute pain. They did everything they could to make me comfortable and make me smile. They were cheerful and chatty and made great efforts to put me at ease in a very scary time. Every time they came to give me IV or ask for a sample they clearly explained what they were doing and why.
The healthcare assistants were also incredibly attentive.
As I walked to the bathroom I must have looked very unstable on my feet as I was approached and asked if I was ok and if I knew where I was going. Everyone worked incredibly hard to make me feel safe and cared about which really does mean a lot when you're scared and in pain.
My ED doctor (I'm afraid I can't remember their name but their badge said they were from paediatrics) was the best dr I've ever met. They listened to me and treated me like an adult. They demonstrated so much empathy and did their best to stabilise my pain. They explained everything clearly and advised me on the next steps I should discuss with my GP. Their demeanour was very calming and you could tell they were passionate about their job. They clearly love helping people. They made me feel safe in their care.
Would I recommend RBH to my friendly and family? Definitely. I'd take them there myself. Your team is an absolute asset and each and every member of staff working on Sunday morning was absolutely outstanding.
"Incredible staff"
