On Friday night at 7pm I went to the Accident and Emergency department suffering from chest pains. Admittedly, I had to wait two hours to be seen, as the department was so busy, but once I actually got to see the doctor things moved on with efficiency and speed. The situation was explained to me, bloods were taken, ECGs and a chest X Ray all took place. Throughout all this time the nurses were absolutely lovely. I had had nothing to eat or drink since the lunchtime so one very kindly brought me a cup of tea. The porter on duty was cheery and very kind too. Around half one in the morning
I was then taken up to ward 14 to await further blood tests. The nurses in room 3 were fantastic. Caring and considerate throughout, I was so impressed by the kindness they showed to everyone in the room. They were rushed off their feet yet were thoroughly pleasant and professional. Their attitude to the very elderly lady in the next bed to me was a credit to them. The lady opposite was in awful pain following a fall yet the nurses showed such compassion and concern. I was discharged the following lunchtime, being told I would receive a cardiology appointment this week. After being home a couple of hours I got a phone call offering me an appointment on Monday! Fantastic service! The cardiology liaison nurse, called Karen, was reassuring and very thorough and an hour later, after s number of tests, I was given the wonderful result that there was no evidence of any heart problems. I cannot speak highly enough of the nursing staff I came into contact with at The Memorial. I think they do an amazing job in often very difficult circumstances and I for one am very very grateful to them. Thank you very much.
"Excellent care. Thank you!"
