"a and e care"

About: Yeovil District Hospital

my son was admitted to a and e on fri 7 th december ,in severe abdominal pain ,late afternoon , by ambulance as an emergency ,we were sat in the waiting area ,with him in agony ,he was grunting with the pain and we were basicaly ignored ,i asked for some pain killers for him but was ignored ,on more than one occasion ,by the staff on duty ,who was dissmisive ,and arrogant ,this went on for ages ,then he was seen by a triage nurse ,and was given some anti acid ,and a small bit of codiene ,i asked if they would leave a dog in this state ,or take it to the vet ,2 doctors were sitting at the desk ,and when i asked why a doctor hadnt seen him ,they said we are busy seeing other patients , he was finally seen 2 and a half hours later ,after the nurse said we are within government guide lines ,the dr who finally saw him had been wandering around the dept, all the time we were there ,with no effort to see my son ,i was in tears in the end ,when they finally examined my son ,and said to me did i know how serious his condition was ,so to sum up my son was ignored for 2 and a half hours ,i begged them to help him ,he is now in 7 a with severe pancreatitis ,he suffered all that tim with out oxygen ,and strong pain killers ,the attitude of the doctor was arrogant and the nursing staff ,were useless .i am so angry that he suffered like like an animal ,i wish i had taken him to the vet instead ,what upset him was im an old age pensiomer ,with an unstable angina ,and i was distraught ,i cant tell you how appalled i am at the lack of care he got .

Thank you for contacting our PALS department directly about this matter. We hope we can work with you to address and resolve your concerns.

Whilst the department can be extremely busy, particularly at this time of year, we pride ourselves on providing a caring and timely service to all. We are sorry if we fell below these high standards during your son's care.
