"My stay at Juniper ward, Darent Valley Hospital"

About: Darent Valley Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

I went to A&E the day after landing back in England after a holiday in Thailand.

Unfortunately whilst there, I stood on a sea urchin and the spines became infected in my foot.

The triage nurse seemed concerned and it wasn't long before I was taken into minors

From there the A&E doctors were unsure how to treat my foot, now twice the size as it should be.

The doctors took pictures, and it seems a lot of work was done behind the scenes.

Swabs and blood were taken.

I was eventually put on juniper ward.

The doctors decided that an operation would not benefit me but a course of antibiotics may help.

So, 5 days of medication, 4 times a day.

The juniper ward staff were the best. It was in my mind, 5* treatment.

They should all be commended

Thank you so much

Dear Scouser125

We do hope that you had a lovely holiday in Thailand, what a wonderful place to visit, though it was rather unfortunate to stand on sea urchin!

The staff in both A&E and Juniper have been notified of your kind words and they do hope you are feeling much better now.

Best wishes
