"First rate and positive experience"

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital

I attended the Respiratory Clinic for the first time and although appointments were overrunning by about 30 minutes the nurse apologised and kept me informed of progress. Eg "You'll be seen in shortly Mr xxxx, probably in about 10 minutes". The consultant's communication skills were excellent and I felt that they listened carefully to my comments and questions and gave me a considered and thoughtful explanation of their initial diagnosis and recommended future tests and treatment. Blood tests were taken in another department and again the process was efficient, friendly and competent with little waiting time.

I have attended the hospital once before for an X ray and this experience was also very positive.

Dear Patient B

Thank you for your comments and for taking the time to share your experience when you attended the Respiratory Clinic at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

I am very pleased to learn that you felt that you were kept informed at all times as to how long you were likely to wait when the appointments were overrunning in clinic.

Communication is one of the key service standards at Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust, so it is really encouraging to know that the nurse, consultant and other team members from other departments you visited, provided this with efficiency, friendliness and competence.

I will pass on your lovely words to the Respiratory Clinic, Blood Tests and X-Ray department for recognition of how well staff across our services have worked together to ensure that as our patient you were treated with compassion, dignity and respect.
