"Waste of time"

About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary

Had to visit after managing to stab my own leg got to A&E took about 10 minutes to get booked in which was fine but sitting for two and a half hours without even being seen by a nurse while quite a few people who had came in after me were getting called in I know there are serious cases which need to take priority but I disagree when a few of them are drunk so I just walked out go to a different hospital tomorrow

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback on our services at the Emergency Department at the RVI. We are sorry to learn of your poor experience when attending the Emergency department, all patients should have a conversation with a triage nurse before registering as a patient to determine their presenting concerns and prioritise treatment times as part of the booking in process. May we apologise if that was not your experience, should you wish to provide your personal details we will be able to investigate it further and Angela McNab ED Matron can be contacted on 0191 282 9927, or you can contact Patient Relations on patient.relations@nuth.nhs.uk who will be able to investigate the issue on your behalf.

We would like to take this opportunity to reassure you that we do treat all patients and that they are seen according to their clinical need and unfortunately these needs will not be known by other patients in the waiting area. We hope you have since received appropriate treatment for your injury.
