"Second cancellation after months of waiting and waiting."

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

This Year has being a tough one for me, I have had an ongoing health problem for 15 years of my life, it still hasn't been solved.

4 years ago, it seemed like I was getting somewhere and was passed on through the system and eventually went in for an operation on my leg (which is my biggest health problems) I was operated on. This operation offered short term relief and here we are 4 years later, my pains have returned but this time they are worse. The pain effects my sleep, it effects my mobility and my every day life.

went to my GP, who is very helpful, I have been complaining to him since February. I am on a lot of different meds to keep this pain at bay. So, my GP referred me to the trauma and orthopaedics department at Crosshouse Hospital, I saw my consultant who determined I was to receive an MRI scan. I had my bloods taken a week later and then I waited and waited and waited for my MRI appointment to come through, finally 4 months later I received it.

In September I had my MRI. When I had my MRI I was told that the results would be available in about 4 weeks.

so I waited four more weeks in agonising pain... still nothing, so I called them.... the consultant had not received the results and I was told that I will be informed via the post.

So in the meantime with many visits to the doctors... I was still none the wiser. Then finally the appointment came through for the first week in December, I phoned them and confirmed.... three weeks later the NHS sent me a letter stating that they would have to reschedule my appointment to January, for other reasons I could not accept that appointment and phoned to inform them, my appointment was rescheduled for later in January, I was fine was that....

Then today, I received another reschedule of outpatient appointment letter, they have knocked me back another month I am now scheduled for the end of

I am so stressed out and fed up of being in pain.

I am still waiting on my blood results, which I did chase up and was told that the consultant would like to talk to me about my bloods on the same day as my MRI results. I feel I am getting neglected as a patient? ?

So now I need to go through Christmas stressed.

sick of waiting, any advice appreciated

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear MUDDYFOX2012,

What an arduous journey and it is clearly not over yet. I am so sorry, you have had such pain, an operation, delays in getting your results and now a delay for the second time to see your consultant. I can see why you are so stressed and fed up.

We can at the very least look into it for you. Can you please contact me by email - eunice.goodwin@aapct.scot.nhs.uk or phone 01563 826222.

Best wishes,

Eunice
